AN UNAUTHORISED Shane Warne biography alleged he has had sex with at least 1000 women and had his first affair four months after marrying estranged wife Simone in 1995. It also suggests the Australian cricket team has a code of silence which encouraged promiscuity by Warne and other team members - and that the team travelled with a supply of condoms when on tour. While many allegations are made anonymously, former Test opener Michael Slater refers to female team groupies as "slag bags" on constant offer to players. The book claims one mate said Warne has so many skeletons in his closet that "he is dead set Rookwood" in reference to Sydney's largest cemetery. Among the allegations is that Warne often propositioned women for sex within one minute of meeting them and that one responded "Shouldn't we at least have dinner first?". The claims will not only further damage Warne's reputation but that of the Australian cricket team as it suggests infidelity by married players and promiscuity by unattached ones. The book Spun Out is by Kerry Packer biographer and award-winning journalist Paul Barry.
