NOBODY is happier than Hugh Hefner that his reality series, Girls Next Door at the Playboy Mansion, has found a home on Channel 9 -- the first time it has appeared on a free-to-air channel. ``It's brilliant,'' Hefner says. ``It indicates in a very positive way that Australia is steps ahead of America.'' The first issue of Hefner's Playboy magazine, with its now-famous calendar photo of Marilyn Monroe, was produced on a kitchen table in Hefner's apartment. On newsstands in December 1953, it carried no cover date because Hefner was not sure when or if he could produce another. The first issue sold more than 50,000 copies. Girls Next Door at the Playboy Mansion focuses on Hefner's relationship with his girlfriends, Holly, Bridget and Kendra.
