Students viewing porn on council computers: MP

School students are accessing Internet pornography on Bega Valley Shire Council library computers on the New South Wales far south coast, according to new claims.
Member for Bega Andrew Constance says he has received complaints that students are viewing "unacceptable material" at the Eden branch library.
Mr Constance says shire officials have told him the State Library Act prevented the installation of content filters on computers. But he says it is time the State Government considered reviewing controls.
"I think given the situation that has now arisen in terms of local public libraries being used in this way, that it is key that we ensure from a state perspective that there is a review of the Library Act and the procedures around these issues," he said.
"I believe to be necessary the adoption of software filtering on these library computers," he said.
