Police investigation into illegal porn continues

A police raid of a Club X store in Bendigo last week found over 2,000 unclassified pornographic DVD’s and videos.

A member of the public alerted the police to the situation and the material was quickly seized.

Under Victorian law businesses can’t offer to sell DVD’s or videos that haven’t been given a classification.

Detective Senior Sergeant Rodney Stewart said that enquiries are still being made into Club X’s possession of the material and no one is yet to be convicted.
“If the conviction is successful, it will limit a lot of trade in the adult industry. It is a breach of the law to offer unclassified material.”

Sen. Sergeant Rodney Stewart said that the investigation will take some time as each DVD and video must be classified individually.

“This is not a common offence that we have to deal with every day.”
